The project had two sectors
- WaSH and
- Protection and Gender
WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE (WaSH)
- We have constructed flood proof genset housings for 2 boreholes
- Repaired 3 Gensets affected by floods
- Extended water to two villages (Fanabua and Ido-roble) by installing 10,000 litres water tank with metal stand in each village complete with reticulation system of 1030 metres
- We have also installedm10,000 litres water tank with metal stand and reticulation system of 260 metres at Buna hospital.
- We have trained 10 borehole management committees in Buna
- WASDA conducted joint monitoring with the county government to oversee the work and do community handing over.
- WASDA has facilitated two coordination meetings to review the existing water governance models and establish the road map to improving the adoption of models that work.
PROTECTION AND GENDER
- We have trained 650 participants (girls, boys, men and women) on gender and protection issues.
- We have facilitated medical, legal and psychosocial support and cash to 80 at-risk persons within the project location.
- We have Convened two consultative multi-stakeholder co-ordination sessions targeting Gender Technical Working Group, National Police Service, and health referral actors to review existing co-ordination frameworks.
- We have done 3 sessions training 240 leaders (chiefs, elders, religious leaders) on Gender Based Violence prevention and alternative FGM rites of passage for strengthened GBV community based protection.
- We have conducted training to strengthen the capacity of GBV health actors and Law enforcement to prevent, respond and mitigate GBV risks offering dignified and timely response.
- We have conduct 10 Radio talk shows in vernacular to create gender and protection awareness in the local community
- We have conducted 5 community dialogue meetings to sensitize the community on its gender and protection aspects.
